Our Gardening Club

In 1956, Greeley Morning Garden Club was founded when a group of individuals decided to turn their shared interests into an official Gardening Club. After a couple of quick meetings, we were on our way to creating something extraordinary.

With time, we’ve grown into a more serious and mature organization, allowing us to take our interests to new levels. When you decide to join us, you too will gain access to various events and, more importantly, to a community of people who are just as passionate as you are.

Thank you for your interest in the Greeley Morning Garden Club!
I am Deb Martinez, President of the club. At present we have over 35 members.
We meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the FMS Bank, 2435 35th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634 in the basement; an elevator is available. We send out the agenda and minutes on Monday the week of the meeting. We gather at 9:15 a.m. for snacks and socializing and we begin the formal part of the meeting at 9:30 a.m. We start with a business meeting to discuss the business of the club. When we have a program scheduled, the speaker begins at 10 a.m.
Beginning in spring, we schedule "garden tending days" for maintaining our community gardens. We ask members to volunteer if they are able.  A few of the gardens we maintain include the Blue and Gold Star Memorial at Linn Grove Cemetery, Pearl’s Garden at Madison School, and a large vegetable garden at the Guadalupe Community Center. We host a few smaller gardens at the Centennial Library and the Anna Gimmestad Memorial Garden in Evans. Those gardening activities began in May… and are ongoing through the fall season.
We use the program SLACK to keep members informed of gardening days so if you choose to join, you will be using SLACK for chat type communication. It’s an app you can download to your PC and/or Phone. The app is available in both MAC OS and Android. Windows 10 is required to run SLACK on a PC.
The cost of membership is $20 annually.
We have two significant fundraisers every year that necessitate membership participation, as a great deal of planning and preparation is needed for these events: the Plant Sale, always held on Mother’s Day Weekend, just completed, and the Greeley Garden Tour, where we raise money for our gardening projects and scholarships for area students majoring in horticulture / agriculture-related fields. We have a wonderfully talented group of people that is fun to be around.
If you have any questions, write back, or you can call or text me personally at 970-397-1415.
Hope to meet you soon.
